Dani Baker and I had so much fun at our April reading they’re we’re teaming up again! Instead of focusing on local landmarks, we’ll read passages that talk about immigrating to Canada. However, Dani and I offer two different perspectives. For Dani, immigrating to Canada. For me, being second generation Canadian but growing up hearing the stories of immigration.

Dani’s cozy mystery series, Hansel & Pretzel, centres on amateur sleuth Linn Sommer, a recent immigrant to Waterloo Region from Germany. My coming-of-age series, Between Worlds, revolves around two teenager girls: dancer Juliana, whose grandfather immigrated to Waterloo Region from Romania, and Elisabeth, his mother, but during the years immediately after World War I, long before he was born.

What initially brought me and Dani together was a German-language book exchange we’d arranged online. Now, six or seven years later, we find ourselves sharing our stories of Canada and immigration through our books. Join us for a fun afternoon of good reads and wonderful conversation. We’ll also have books for sale at the end.

We can’t wait to meet you!
