(Kitchener, ON, October 24, 2019) The last thing Lori Wolf-Heffner thought when she entered her first high school English class in 1991 was, “I bet I’ll be selling books at Christmas markets with my teacher 30 years later.” Her teacher, Heather Wright, never dreamed it would happen either.
Lori and Heather said farewell when, in 1994, Lori left to complete grades 12 and OAC at St. Mary’s High School. They met again in 2011, when Lori joined the Professional Writers Association of Canada, and Heather was then president of the local chapter. They stayed in touch ever since.
Heather continued teaching for many years and eventually became a freelance writer and author. Loving to help other writers, many of Heather’s books are how-tos for people who want to make their writing dreams come true. Along with school visits and leading writing workshops for teens and adults, Heather also added writing coach to her job description.
In 2018, Lori, a freelance writer and translator, was ready to begin writing a series of books combining her family history in Europe after WWI and the life of a young dance student in Kitchener today—the Between Worlds series. She contacted Heather to supply some of the guidance she needed to get started. Since then, Heather has helped at the planning stage of all of Lori’s five novels.
This holiday season, Heather and Lori are expanding their collaboration and taking their books to various holiday markets under their banner: Zwei Writers from K-W. (Both Kitchener natives, they thought the name was a good one!) Their many books appeal to a range of readers, combining fiction and non-fiction for pre-teens, teens and adults. Lori and Heather can’t wait to connect with the many holiday shoppers they will meet in November and are looking forward to another collaboration in the new year at the KW Women’s Show.
