Postcards in a Closet
Katharina Wolf, the inspiration for Elisabeth Schuhmacher in Between Worlds, was born in a village nestled in the flatlands along the Marosch River in Hungary in 1901. In 1914, the war broke out. In 1919, her hometown became part of Romania. In 1921, she became pregnant with her first child. Unable to fathom such a life, writer Lori Wolf-Heffner researched the times, translated Katharina’s often difficult-to-read postcards, and discovered that a mother’s story can inspire future generations, long after she’s passed away.
This book is currently available only through me and to readers in most of Canada. (I’d love to ship elsewhere, but tax laws are really complicated.) The book is otherwise not currently available, though you may find earlier versions under Lori Straus.
